Marathon

Please be advised that following a review of the rules pertaining to the Marathon the following will apply for the event  this weekend:

The Event will be a Team event with an individual element included.

Counties that have entered numbers less than the number required to make up a team may compete in the individual element this year. 

After the National Festival the rules will be reviewed and Counties will be advised accordingly.

Please advise your participant Areas accordingly.


Event Type – Team Event

Age Category - U16 Over 14

Panel Details: Panel of 4 Boys / Girls

All Panel Members Should Compete

1. At county level the first four (4) competitors over the finish line, will represent their county at the National Festival in both the Boys and Girls Marathon. 

2. At the National Festival the marathon (boys & girls) will be regarded as an individual event and a team event with 3 of the 4 runners to score per county. The total score per county to determine the result.

3. Prizes of 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th places will be awarded for both the individual and team events

Weekend 1 was a great success!

Aldi Community Games is an all Ireland independent voluntary organisation and National Governing Body providing opportunities for children and young people to grow and develop in a positive and healthy way while experiencing a wide range of sporting and cultural activities. The National Festival is usually held over 2 weekends each year where on each weekend between 3 and 4,000 children compete for their area, town, county and province.
