Donegal hosted the 44th Annual General Meeting of the HSE Community Games from the 20th to the 21st of February in Mount Errigal Hotel, Letterkenny.

Over 250 volunteers descended on the town where keynote speaker Kieran Mulvey, Chairperson of the Irish Sports Council, praised the HSE Community Games for being one of the only NGBs in Ireland to encompass the whole of Ireland. He said that "the Irish Sports Council are proud to be associated with the HSE Community Games."

This year the HSE Community Games received funding of €257,000 from the Irish Sports Council and €20,000 from Women in Sport.  But as pointed out by Mr Mulvey it is money well spent - helping promote a healthy and active lifestyle and ensuring a brighter future for the children of Ireland in a fun and safe environment.

Anne McAteer of the HSE spoke about how HSE Community Games is a fully inclusive organisation and allows children, who may not usually have the opportunity, to partake in a wide range of activities, both sporting and cultural.  She praised the dedication of the 10,000 volunteers who give so freely of their time and talents.

The AGM coincided with the HSE Community Games Annual Media Awards which is to acknowledge all the support received from the National and Regional Press (online and offline) in 2014 and also in recognition of the hard work done all year round by the PRO volunteers.
