Camogie

Event Type: Team
Age Category:  U14 Over 10
Panel Details: 16 Girls (12 + 4 Substitutes).  Minimum of 9 players.

Ball Size: Standard 4
Protective gear such as shinguards, gumshields and hand protection may be used by a player while playing or training.
All panel members present at National Festival should participate.
  1. The playing rules of the Camogie Association will apply except where amended by the Community Games rules.
  2. All 4 Substitutes may be used.
  3. The game will be 25 minutes each half.
  4. Measurements of the playing field at the National Festival, where possible will be:-
 Length 95m x 50m wide
 Goals 4.5m wide x 2.2m high.
 The 65m becomes 40m.
 Markings -13m, 20m, 40m and midfield line.
 Parallelogram to be marked out  

     5. In the event of a draw at the end of normal time 7 minutes per half, extra time will be played. If the sides are still level at the end of extra time 5 different players of each team will alternately take a 15m free. If a player fails to rise the ball she may hit it on the ground but may not attempt to rise it again. If the sides are still level at the end of 5 frees per team, sudden death applies.
Camogie is often seen as the female version of Hurling.   But it is so much more and has become an immensely popular sport in its own right over the years.

Aldi Community Games is an all Ireland independent voluntary organisation and National Governing Body providing opportunities for children and young people to grow and develop in a positive and healthy way while experiencing a wide range of sporting and cultural activities. The National Festival is usually held over 2 weekends each year where on each weekend between 3 and 4,000 children compete for their area, town, county and province.
