Every year thousands of Community Games volunteers from all over Ireland are rewarded for their hard years work at the Annual Community Games National Area Awards.
Each of the 32 Areas is selected by their own county to represent them at the Area Awards, where four Provincial and one overall National winner is selected. Winning areas are chosen on the basis of their participation in the wide range of sports and cultural activities hosted by Community Games.

Volunteer Recognition Awards
The Volunteers of Community Games are the backbone of the organisation. In light of this, various ways of giving much deserved recognition and appreciation to our volunteers have been considered. This included ways in which Community Games can genuinely reward and acknowledge the work of its many volunteers at Area, County, Provincial and National level. These awards are aimed at recognising the special contribution of individuals to Community Games. The individuals will have demonstrated exceptional dedication and commitment in helping achieve the aims and objectives of Community Games. The criteria for selection included:
- Involvement Contribution
- Vision Promotion of the Games
- Leadership and other noteworthy achievements
Each Area is invited to select and nominate one volunteer for the Volunteer Recognition Award. The County Committee then select one volunteer from the nominations from areas in their County. The RTD Committee then select two Volunteers per Province from those nominated by the Counties for that year. The RTD Committee encourage Area’s and Counties to hold their own Volunteer appreciation initiatives and the selection process stages offer the opportunity for those types of events.
