We are delighted that after a lot of hard work and consultation with members at Area, County, Provincial and National level, we have completed our strategic plan. We have looked at where we are today, where we want to be in the future and how we plan to get there. For an organisation like ours, it is important that we take into account social, political, economical and technological changes that are affecting us and this plan does just that.
The future of our organisation is important to children and young people so Community Games have completed a Strategic Plan
With over 500,000 children taking part in our games and over 20,000 voluntary organisers we are a huge driving force in Ireland in getting children to develop a love of sport and culture. We are participation based not competitive based and look forward to implementing the plan which will help us to grow and develop in a structured manner. Members of Community Games were consulted at all stages of the Strategic Planning process:
- Counties and Areas were invited to consultation meetings or asked to submit written views.
- A special consultation meeting was held with the NEC (which includes Officers).
- Groups outside of Community Games were interviewed such as the Irish Sports Council, ESB, the National Coaching and Training Centre and the media.
- The Analysis Report which was part of the process will continue to be an invaluable working document for Community Games.
- NEC and Officer Board nominees joined the Strategic Planning Committee for a Workshop which agreed the Mission, Vision, Guiding Principles and Goals of the Plan.
- The NEC, Counties, staff and the Irish Sports Council were invited to present their comments on the first draft of the Plan which was prepared by the Committee.
- Recommendations received were carefully considered by the Committee and amendments were made to the first draft of the Plan.
- The Plan was further amended following consideration of the views of the NEC and the Officer Board.
- The final draft of the Community Games Strategic Plan was presented to an Special General Meeting of the Movement and approval for the plan was given.
It is impossible for everyone in Community Games to agree with every line of our Plan, and we know that the extensive consultation process has led to a Plan, which we can all agree on, is in the best interest of the children of Ireland.
